Help Me Restore My Family’s Home

Hey, I’m Stefan from Germany, and I’m reaching out for your help as I try to bring my childhood home back to life.

Not long ago, my uncle passed away. He had been living alone in the house I grew up in, the same house my grandparents once built with their own hands.

He had cared for them in their final years but after they passed, I think he lost his sense of purpose.

On the outside, he seemed okay, but he slowly began to withdraw from everyone.

He eventually wouldn’t let anyone enter the house, not even me, and if someone came too close, he would call the police. So in the end, we had no choice but to stop trying.

When he died, I stepped into the house for the first time in years, and it felt like I had walked straight into a lost places documentary.

The home had fallen into complete disrepair. Years of hoarding, neglect, and decay had taken over. The rooms I remembered from my childhood were buried under piles of trash. It was devastating to see, and the video I recorded doesn’t come close to capturing the full weight of it all.

I’m the only person on that side of my family who can take care of what’s been left behind. And I want to try to restore this place to honor my grandparents who poured their lives into building it.

But the truth is, the sheer amount of trash and hoarded belongings is overwhelming. It’s so extreme that the general condition of the building can’t even be evaluated until everything has been cleared out. Before I can think about repairs, plumbing, electrical, or anything else, it needs a full professional cleanup.

Any funds from this campaign will go directly toward hiring a cleanup company to help me clear the house and make it safe to assess. I don’t know yet if the house can be saved, and many have told me to just walk away and abandon this project, but I can’t do that, not without at least trying.
