Help me fund my residency in CDMX

Hello my name is Ari,

I'm a visual artist and MA student at the Slade School of Fine Art in London.

Since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of going to Mexico. My very first school presentations were about ancient architecture there — I would spend hours on our first family computer looking at photos of the animals in the jungle, ancient temples and the cities around them waiting ages for the images to load.

Now, I’ve been offered a place at the SOMA Summer Residency in Mexico City this July — a four-week, artist-led program exploring the theme: “BROTES (Outbreaks): Proposals to delay the end of the world.”

It’s a deeply political, poetic, and urgent context that speaks to me — and it feels like a dream coming true that I actually got a place. In my practice I explore painting in the expanded field, moving between folklore and fine art, queer embodiment, fight as metaphor and resilience, and ritual through wearable paintings, masks, and symbolic objects.

I’ve received a partial scholarship from SOMA and am applying for further support, but I still need help covering flights, accommodation, living costs, and a part of the residency fee.
