Help Me Attend Bay View Music Festival – Opera & Chamber Music!

Hi everyone!

My name is Miko Roman, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been given the incredible opportunity to attend the Bay View Music Festival in Bay View, Michigan this summer! This prestigious program runs from July 14 to August 11 and includes two exciting and intensive sessions that I’ve been selected for:

Weeks 1 & 2 – Opera: I’ll be performing in a chamber orchestra production of Carmen, one of the most iconic operas in the repertoire. This is an amazing chance to perform, learn, and grow as a bassoonist, working alongside incredibly talented musicians and faculty.

Weeks 3 & 4 – Chamber Music: I’ll be collaborating with the world-renowned Akropolis Reed Quintet in a chamber music intensive. This is a rare opportunity to work closely with professional musicians and gain invaluable experience in a chamber ensemble setting.

Thanks to a generous scholarship, the remaining cost of tuition, room, and board is $1,265. The help I received last summer from friends, family, and loved ones made it possible for me to attend summer festivals that helped me grow exponentially as a musician. That growth has now led to this amazing next step.

I’m also holding a fundraising and send-off recital on Saturday, May 31st at 6:30 PM at Plymouth Church UCC (2717 E Hampshire St, Milwaukee, WI 53211). This concert will feature some of my closest friends and collaborators in Milwaukee and will be one of my last recitals in the city before I move. I am excited to share that this fall, I’ll begin my next chapter as the Graduate Bassoon Teaching Assistant at LSU in Baton Rouge, under the direction of Dr. Nanci Belmont.

I’m so excited to present this recital for you all, and I truly can’t express enough how thankful I am for the continued support from my teachers, friends, family, and community.
