Hello, my name is Wael N — many know me as Maximus Bloo. I am a queer refugee who fled discrimination and an unsafe situation in Tunisia, seeking protection and the chance to rebuild my life. Today, I am in Brazil, trying to create a safer, stable, and dignified future.

Thanks to the generosity of my first fundraiser, I was able to prepare my departure, travel to Brazil on my own, and complete the initial refugee process. I now have my refugee ID, have access to banking systems, and gained access to essential services like healthcare. This first step changed my life, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who helped me get this far.

But the reality of starting over has been harder than expected.

The high cost of living in Brazil — especially rent, appliances, and basic necessities — combined with the global economic situation and the difficulty of entering into the professional market, has made it challenging to settle down and find stable employment. I am doing everything I can to adapt, but I need a small push to fully stand on my own feet.
