UPDATE JULY 13th Help Mark recover from tragic fall
Donation protected
On July 3rd, while on a family beach vacation, Mark Hanna suffered a terrible accident.
He was hanging a towel on his third-floor deck when the railing collapsed and Mark fell. He sustained several injuries, including a punctured lung and crushed the right side of his rib cage. His family was on site, and emergency responders took him to the emergency trauma unit in Charleston.
Mark has been sedated since July 3rd to manage his pain and has been on a ventilator. He has undergone a couple of surgeries to repair his lung and clean his wounds. We are anxiously awaiting an upcoming surgery on Monday, July 7th, where metal plates will reconstruct his ribs. The nurses and doctors have assured us that after this surgery, Mark will no longer need to be sedated and should be able to breathe on his own.
Mark will make a full recovery, though it will be long and painful. He is the primary breadwinner for his family and a very active and dedicated father and friend. Even simple and gentle activities will likely be difficult during his healing process.
Because this accident happened on vacation in South Carolina, the family is also traveling back and forth and staying in hotels, making childcare challenging. Any and all help is appreciated and will go directly to cover Mark’s mounting medical bills and help support his children while he is unable to care for them. Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
