Help Mali Meredydd ring THE bell!

Now where do we start?

 

 

As many of you may know our beautiful niece Mali Meredydd has recently been diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

 

Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is a type of cancer that affects white blood cells. It progresses quickly and aggressively and requires immediate treatment. ALL is rare, with around 790 people diagnosed with the condition each year in the UK.

Although it is rare, it is the most common type of leukaemia that affects children.

 

After long stints in Ysbyty Gwynedd and more recently at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, she is now back home with her Mam and Dad on Anglesey.

 

It has been a strange few weeks for all her family both on Anglesey, and in Birmingham and Norway.

 

It’s going to be a long process but everyone is hopeful that the prognosis will be positive and, as Mali is such a fighter, that she will beat this horrible disease!

 

Mali is known by many in her home county on Anglesey, where she has connections with her church (Capal Goleudu), dance classes (Barton’s Dance and Drama Academy) and her “big blue school”, as she would say herself, (Ysgol y Graig), and also through her mum’s connections with local bands in the area. Her Dad also has a very supportive community of family and friends in Birmingham, where Mali is adored very much by all.

 

With such a big support network and many close friends and connections wanting to fundraise both for Mali and her family, we felt, as her aunties, it was important to have one central source that we can use to support Mali in her journey towards ‘ringing the bell’ to go home.

 

Can you spare anything to help?

 

What the money will go towards:

- Travel! Currently they’re driving 200 mile round trips up to 3 times week. Funds raised will help Mali’s family cover her travel costs and anything Mali needs for these journeys to be more bareable.

 

- Buy anything that can help give Mali a more comfortable journey to recovery.

 

- Provide respite for her parents Bronwen and Reid who are dealing with this difficult journey amazingly.

 

- Help remove a little bit of the stress away from Mali’s family during such a challenging time.

 

 

We would also like to continue to fundraise in aid of Alder Hey Children’s Charity and for other children with blood cancer or Leukaemia. No less than 20% of any funds raised will be passed on directly to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where Mali is being treated and looked after by their amazing staff
