As we settle in for the hectic holiday season, scrambling to see the entire family and preparing to kick our New Year’s Resolutions into overdrive it is important to remember the true nature of the holidays. The Vertical Challenge Crew, which has worked tirelessly over the past 30 years to help others to provide for New England residents in need, just met another family. This family who lives in Central New Hampshire has been juggling various crippling living expenses. In addition to everyday costs of living, the parents of a pair of boys age nine and thirteen, have been unable to balance home repairs with their son’s medical costs as he battles stage 4 Hepablastoma (childhood liver cancer). This has left them with a blue tarped-shingled roof that is currently sporting enough holes to be considered a showerhead. The silver lining to this porous ever-shower is that their bathroom also happens to be in dramatic disrepair. Their shower/tub is non-existant. Their toilet is the only working utility in the bathroom by industry standards. Without even a working faucet to use, this situation is one that we can’t turn a blind eye towards.   We have been blessed with a great group of friends who are willing to give us their time and expertise to help restore this family home to holiday shape before Santa Claus comes to town. That being said, a project of this magnitude takes a village and the cost of materials will be high.

We were hoping between a collective of friends, family, and those inspired by the good will of the holidays to raise at least $25,000 that will facilitate repair of the roof, bathroom, and their living room floor (currently bare plywood… a health hazard) while also providing them with oil to heat their home for the holidays and much needed automotive repair to set up a great family for an even better new year. From each and every member of the Vertical Challenge family of 28 years in the Northeast, we humbly ask you to give big, give small, just give in the spirit of helping others.
