IRMA: MAAYKE TESS & LYNN REBUILD

I am Sarah Alvarez from New York City. I am a very close friend and business associate of Maayke. She will be visiting NYC and arrives the beginning of Nov. I have created an account with my financial institution - overseen by my financial advisor so I will be able to provide her with an ATM card and checks to use the funds raised here so that she can put them towards any financial obligaiton or need.

I have been in touch with Maayke - firstly she is SO thankful and "speechless for the outpouring of love". This money has allowed her to worry less about how to provide for the girls in the immediate aftermath. In true Maayke fashion she remains hopeful and positive.
Their house, like so many others, sustained extensive structural damage. The Dawn Beach community they called home with so many of their close friends has been devastated and holds no value. The looting situation is horrible and safety is a concern.
With Lynn safely off the Island Maayke is focusing on visiting the homes of her clients in order to inventory and assess the damage before she will be ready to leave. The spirit of St Maarten is strong and remains unbroken despite the many challenges faced on the road ahead.
Anything that you are able to contribute in terms of a donation is SO appreciated. The future is very uncertain so it is our hope to provide them with the financial freedom to make whatever decisions necessary, quickly.
I know there are so many affected by this horrible storm and the need is great in so many different places, just trying to do my small part to help a dear friend and her family.

De financiële en emotionele impact van Irma's vernietiging op St. Maarten is verwoestend. Maayke en Lynn zijn er nog steeds en Lynn zou zo snel mogelijk moeten kunnen vertrekken. De situatie is ondragelijk voor haar.
We konden Maayke donderdag even per telefoon bereiken en we weten dat ze veilig zijn. Maar ze hebben veel verloren en hebben nog nauwelijks eten. Ik hou jullie op de hoogte als we zelf meer nieuws hebben.
Alles wat je kan bijdragen aan een donatie wordt erg gewaardeerd. De toekomst is zeer onzeker. Maayke is door Irma ook haar job verloren. Het is onze hoop om een beetje financiële vrijheid te verschaffen om de juiste beslissingen te kunnen nemen.
Ik weet dat er veel mensen getroffen zijn door deze afschuwelijke storm en de nood is groot op zoveel verschillende plaatsen, maar ik probeer gewoon mijn kleine deel te doen om een goede vriendin en haar familie te helpen.
