Help Luna Shimada Fix Her Home's Plumbing Crisis

And about almost 2 years ago, I purchased this ranch property out in Pahrump. I’ve been learning about homesteading and rural lifestyle.

However, I have discovered some challenges and realized that I purchased a home that was not built to code since that was not a requirement in this area until five years ago. My house is built in the early 1990s and I suspect that I purchased this home with some pre-existing plumbing issues. Of course, nothing started to really show up until six months ago around May or June 2023 my hot water systems stopped working.

Naturally, it’s been a process and I was troubleshooting water heaters after going through three of them. I finally discovered the problem. A very severe hot water leak under my concrete slab foundation.. After going through all the process of trying to submit insurance claims to homeowners insurance and Home Warranty companies because I thought I had Insurance up the yin Yang to cover myself for these kind of emergencies only to be declined and declined and declined! The job that I’ve been quoted by several people to fix the problem either by going through the concrete slab and ripping up the floor range or Repiping the entire house is anywhere from $5000 to $10,000!

I have to go out of pocket with this and naturally I didn’t have the funds to cover such a huge repair so we did a temporary fix by putting a shut off valve on the hot water line turning it on and using it as needed. However, this has caused other problems and it was only a short term solution. The leak under the floor has gotten so much worse and is now leaking up through the floor into my house every time we turn on that waterline . Within five minutes there are 2 inches of water on the floor! We are estimating that we are losing about 10 gallons of water under our floor every minute as it takes approximately 4 1/2 to 5 minutes to empty an entire 50 gallon tank ! What we are facing now is catastrophic as the ground beneath my foundation begins to get very saturated, causing hairline cracks to appear in my walls. My house is starting to sink.. the other option is to re-pipe the entire house and close off those pipes permanently. We are still looking at about $5000 for that fix and this is with a local handyman that I have worked with. This is the cheapest quote I’ve been able to receive for this repair either through the floor or re-piping. I understand it’s quite reasonable, but I can no longer put this problem off and we cannot live without hot water especially right now in the dead of winter. I live on a ranch with multiple animals and many dogs that require regular grooming as well as puppies. My family and I have not been able to have a decent shower in weeks.. yes, we are going old school boiling pots of water on the stove as needed filling up bathtubs as needed, but we have already been living like this for over six months now. As much as it pains me to once again run a campaign I don’t see any other choice at the moment as I am working hard and diligently to save for such a repair, but with the cost of living and my monthly bills and expenses, it’s just not possible for me to save Such a large amount of money in such a short time .
