Help Lou Get to Mercy Ships!

This nursey is heading to Africa!

I am volunteering on 'Mercy Africa' from March this year. Mercy Ships provides life saving surgeries for those in need along the west coast of Africa - currently in Cameroon. To do so, they need nurses (and many other professionals!) like myself to donate their time and skills. 

The ship is a former cruise liner that has been completely repurposed as a hospital. Most of the surgeries performed would rarely be seen in the Western world, because we are so lucky to have such an amazing primary and tertiary health care system. Not all countries have this luxury. Something as simple as a simple tooth ache because of lack of access to basic health care can become life threatening. 

The ship has provided free surgeries to thousands of patients over the past 38 years. To keep it running, volunteers need to find their own way, on their own funds.
