Help Littlefoot With His Surgery

Spende geschützt

Hi friends! My name is Melissa and I am fundraising for my pup, Littlefoot, a 7 months old English Cream Golden Retriever. Littlefoot was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome, where a fiber from the amniotic sack wrapped around his foot, causing it to lose circulation. However, having just a nub on his right leg has never stopped him! You should see how fast he can run!

As Littlefoot started to grow and get taller, I saw his leg becoming more of a problem. The plan was to get him a prosthetic when he turns 1, in November. About a month ago I noticed his elbow was swollen with a squishy lump. The vet wasn't 100% sure what was causing the swelling. His x-rays showed pre arthritis, bone abnormalities and possibly a bone infection. He was put on antibiotics and scheduled a follow-up appointment in two weeks, but unfortunately his elbow did not get better, it got worse. During the visit the Dr. suggested to see an orthopedic, because they will definitely be able to find out what is causing the swelling. That is when I had no choice but to ask, what do you think about amputation? It turns out that is the best option for him.

The following week we went to another vet, the one he went to when he was first born, to get a second opinion. Dr. Pat was going to say if we should go to the orthopedic or amputate. The answer we got was something no one ever wants to hear about their puppy. After looking at his x-rays, it was found that he has already lost some bone mass, something that will continue to get worse over time. Even a prosthetic couldn't prevent this from happening. That being said, the best option for Littlefoot is to amputate his leg. It is very upsetting, but it will help him live a long, healthy and happy life. Pretty much all of his pain and problems will go away once it is removed.

I know he will be okay because he already walks on 3 legs sometimes, so he can do it. Littlefoot is the most unique dog, very vocal, dramatic and full of personality. I know he is in pain right now.

That being said, I would like to raise money to help with Littlefoot's surgery. It is going to be close to $2,500. All of the remaining money will be donated to North Penn Animal Hospital, where his surgery will be taking place. Every dollar will help this little boy.

Thank you so much!
