Help Lisa Duffy Whip Cancer

My sister Lisa is the most positive and upbeat person I know. Anyone that meets her senses how genuine and warm she is, always smiling and joyful. She is keeping that optimistic attitude in the face of her battle to beat cancer. I decided to reach out to everyone that means so much to her after I saw first-hand how her spirits were buoyed by the love and care directed to her when she visited her workplace community and had visits from family and friends. She needs your support so she can win this fight against adenocarcinoma bile duct cancer of the pancreas.
Lisa was experiencing great pain when she visited her doctor in September and he thought she had kidney stones. After a few weeks passed with no change she found herself in the ER with jaundice. Imagine a yellow smiley face grinning in pain. That’s Lisa. The CT scan revealed a blocked bile duct and a pancreatic mass. What a gut punch…literally, to get that news! We all know the scare… that takes your breath away. The Alex Trebek.
Next, began a few weeks of very painful and invasive endoscopic procedures to biopsy the mass and determine what was really going on. First a stent had to be placed to clear the bile duct and release the backup of fluids. The biopsy was inconclusive and said benign. We were overjoyed! This is treatable! She’ll be ok.
However, her cautious gastroenterologist wasn’t comfortable and neither was Lisa, still in pain, although no longer yellow, but still smiling. She was referred to the leading pancreatic specialist, Dr. Doug Evans at Froedtert Medical Center in Milwaukee.
After a week of uncertainty, we trekked to Milwaukee to meet the cancer team in the GI Faith Clinic. We have to keep faith that she will be ok. Lisa spent 10 days with them undergoing a second endoscopic treatment which aggravated the pancreas and brought excruciating pain that almost made her give up. Eventually doctors discovered pancreatitis, aggravated by the endoscopic procedure and fluid buildup in the cavity and started a drain to alleviate the situation.
One saving grace was an incredible view of the city and Lake Michigan from her bedside. Miraculously, a rainbow appeared out the window just as the radiation/oncology team entered the room.
She was finally able to go home after a treatment plan was developed for adenocarcinoma.
Wing has a 6-8 month battle ahead including radiation, chemo and surgery to fight this cancer.
While unable to work right now, she looks forward to getting back to her extended family, cooking up some stellar meals for everyone.

Her husband is a tremendous support driving back and forth to Milwaukee and holding down the household while he continues working fulltime. Her two children, Jeri and Joe are there as well keeping her focused and positive, with baby granddaughter Zella providing comic relief.
We’ve put together a care plan with close family to shoulder the burden. I started this GoFundMe account to ease the financial burden on the family. Over the next days, weeks and months ahead they will need to be at countless doctor appointments, hospital stays and surgeries in Milwaukee. As you can imagine, the normal costs of everyday living, mortgage, food, gas, car, etc., plus the medical costs can be astronomical.
At this incredibly difficult time we are requesting your help as Lisa starts treatment. We don’t know how much this is going to be but surely it is going to be thousands of dollars.
