Help Lillian sing in Germany!
I have been accepted to Middlebury College's 'German for Singers' 8 week immersion program this summer. I have known I have wanted to do this program for a very long time. My original plan was to this program right after completing my M.M., but graduating in 2020 put a halt on this. Three years later, it finally seems like the right time!
The program is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, and adding on a week of traveling to Germany to perform an opera and concerts there,(in addition to the regular performances in Middlebury, VT) and to have auditions and feedback from German agents. This will all be included in the regular program's tuition.
For American singers to be able to audition in Germany, we are expected to have a certain level of proficiency in the language. Middlebury's program is specifically designed to help opera singers reach this level in a whirlwind 7 weeks.
Here are more details as to what the program offers: https://www.middlebury.edu/language-schools/languages/german/singers
The full tuition, including room and board is $11,405. I have been awarded $2000 in a grant from the Max Kade foundation and $5100 in scholarships from the program. The remaining tuition is $4305. I will be responsible for text books, not able to work for the two months, and my flight to Germany. Taking that into account, I am hoping to raise a total of $5500.
I am planning to organize a "thank you" recital in the fall to thank everyone who donated and contributed to this happening. I can't wait to share all of the German repertoire I will have learned while at the program!
I am so grateful to the wonderful, arts-suppprting community that I am a part of. Thank you for your belief in me and support of my career and love of singing.
