Help Lawrence with his medical fundraiser!
My name is Lawrence Mowe. I am the husband of my beautiful wife Kathleen of 37 years, the father of our daughter Abigail and soon to be the father in law of Thomas her fiance'. I am also the grandfather of their son Thomas Junior. We also consider Kelly and Lucas part of our family.
My high school years include being a graduate of 1981 from the Plant Maintenance Program of Charles H McCann Technical High School, during which I also played linebacker and guard on the football team. Also during my high school years I was a member of the honor roll several times and enlisted in the organization entitled "Who's Who Among High School.
After High School I went on to further my education and graduated from the LPN program of Berkshire Community College.
Additional things include serving 6 years in the United States Army (NG) as a Four Deuce Mortarman and Prep Cook, a local musician/singer/ songwriter, a non denominational licensed and ordained minister with a doctorate in the State of Massachusetts, a trustee of the Evangelical Free Church, and member of the Board of Education associated with Grace Christian School, more, etc.
Overall, I have spent my life serving others. With the help of the Lord I established a Berkshire County Nursing Home Ministry which included serving the elderly in facilities from the North Adams Massachusetts area to the borderline of Connecticut. Some things provided were a one hour church service with worship music, Bible study , communion, visitation and encouragement. I am supportive and friends with Doug Foss of Hope Church , Doug Duncan of CBC and Dave Anderson of the First Baptist Church of North Adams. Gene Kemp, Bill Wilson, David Middleton, Chris Green , Paul Denzel , and Dean Shaw are among others that are important to mention as well. Those listed above are some pastoral and elder friends who have been supportive and whom I thank the Lord for. In summary, I am a person who loves both God and all people unconditionally.
However, I am now the one who is in need of help. At this time I am facing over 50 medical issues. These have greatly affected my overall health condition and quality of life to the point of where I am now physically disabled. Two of the medical issues that nearly took my life and have left me with many severe residual disabilities are called Churg Strauss Syndrome and Osteomyelitis. Currently there is no cure and no known cause for the rare autoimmune syndrome called Churg Strauss which affects only two people worldwide per year. As far as Osteomyelitis is concerned, I was recently hospitalized for five months at Massachusetts General Hospital and Berkshire Medical Center due to a deadly bacteria in my bloodstream that traveled throughout my body and caused inflammation and a major infection in my bones. After a seven hour surgery and power wash in the lumbar section of my spine, thoracic and neck areas, five drains were installed to remove the rest of the deadly bacteria. Both surgeons and other specialists stated to my wife that they did not think I was going to survive. But by the grace of God I have survived thus far.
In addition to Churg Strauss and Osteomyelitis, some other current health issues include foot and hand deformity/palsy , double carpal tunnel , left hand thumb tendon rupture , charcot foot, clubfoot , plantars fasciitis , peripheral neuropathy with unscheduled shooting pains, diabetes, diabetic neuropathy, sciatica , muscle wasting , twenty years of severe chronic pain , Raynaud's Syndrome, hyperparathyroidism, kidney disease, CVA, heart valve stenosis and murmur, foot drop, unsteady gait, mobility issues, seven compressed fractures and a herniated disc with a free-floating fragment in the lumbar area of my spine. Other things include serious visual, hearing and dental problems, dependent edema, osteoporosis, bone degeneration, osteoarthritis , unsteady gait, bursitis , high risk for falls, hot and cold burn risk and Mononeuritis Multiplex, etc which are just a few other conditions I live with on a daily basis at this time (more).
The purpose of conducting this fundraiser is for the glory of God, to honor my faithful wife who has been helping me for over 20 years of illness, and for the sake of my family, friends and acquaintances whom are dear to me and hold a special place in my heart . It is my prayer and hope this fundraiser will help improve my health condition, restore my quality of life to the point where I may provide for my family, go back to work, and serve others again.
This fundraiser has been created to help with Home Healthcare expenses, improving my medical condition , to lighten the load of my illnesses off of my wife as much as possible, modification expenses for the handicapped, powered and manual medical equipment expenses, PT and OT expenses, transportation , lodging , eateries and parking at Massachusetts General Hospital along with other medical facilities, medicine and ointments ranging up to $1,000 a month for one prescription, rare autoimmune, respiratory , diabetic and lifetime antibiotic therapy , chronic pain, kidney, heart, stomach , eye and dermatological care, toiletry and bathing supplies, home entry, stairway , safety and other modifications, handicap ramp, outdoor upkeep and maintenance including snow plowing, salting, sanding, asphalt repair, outdoor security and safety the lighting to prevent falls, grooming , manicure and pedicure expenses, medical bedding, monthly premiums for rentals, high-cost insurances , emergency communication devices and so much more not listed here.
In closing , many of you are aware that the cost of everything today is skyrocketing . My wife and I are in need of your help at this time and we cannot thank you all enough for your support. Also, if anyone should know of any reputable home health aides to help with simple tasks of care please let us know . My wife and I have been through an immense amount of emergent issues concerning my health for the past 20 years of our lives and to this date and your support will help us sustain and carry this cross that has used up our strength and affected our resources.
