Help Laura's Family Get a New Home For Christmas

Hi, my name is Tara and I’m setting up for a Christmas Miracle for a wonderful family in desperate need of a warm, dry and safe place to live. I’m calling on family, friends, friends of friends, and the greater community to help lift this struggling family up and give them the helping hand that they SO deserve.

My friend Laura is a single mom of 3 who is working her butt off to rebuild the lives of herself and her children. They’re domestic violence survivors rebuilding from below rock bottom, and they could really use help in starting this new chapter of their lives. Since January 2020 this family has lost everything they owned TWICE. In May Laura collapsed from exhaustion and stress. They are currently living in a 5th wheel trailer that is so old and damaged that fixing it just isn’t even an option at this point. Money spent fixing it would essentially be money wasted, as it would just be a bandaid solution. They’re doing the best they can with what they’ve got, but it’s old, and beyond repair. There is a leak in the trailer that will eventually lead to severe rotting.

The hope here is to set this family up with new space to call home by Christmas, especially with the cold and wet winter months upon us. Laura is currently in school full time to build a brighter future for her young family. She needs to be able to focus her time and energy on her family and her education. She had an RV tech from Wet Coast RV Repair out to inspect her trailer and he said that it was not a repairable problem, and his recommendation was to get a new trailer. He connected her with Arbutus RV to look at getting something newer but financing wasn’t doable. 

We’ve been in contact with a private seller on the island who is selling the trailer that they purchased to live in before they secured housing. Our goal is to have Laura and the kids out of their current trailer as soon as humanly possible, and into this trailer. 

This amazing momma has such a giving and helping heart and her kids are all true gems. She is always the first person to offer help if anyone needs it. With all that is on her plate, she never asks for help, opting rather to work hard to make everything happen. It’s time for her to be lifted up and supported.
