Help Laila Reach Her Service Study Abroad Dream
Spende geschützt
Hi! My name is Laila Dunn, and I’m a 17-year-old high school student in New Orleans, LA. Recently, I was accepted to a community service study abroad program this summer in Cape Town, South Africa! Unfortunately, I am short on the costs of flights to and from South Africa. I would be so grateful if you could help me pay for flights and accomplish my dream of studying abroad this summer.
This trip will allow me to fulfill my dream of visiting Africa. It will also allow me to learn in-depth about Apartheid and the efforts of Nelson Mandela and others who fought for justice while contributing to the local community through various community service projects. The focus of this particular trip is to learn and help with literacy efforts in the community. I will work on an in-depth project comparing literacy education efforts in the US and South Africa. As part of this project, my peers and I will lead interactive activities for young children at local libraries. Through this cultural experience, I hope to bring a smile to the children’s faces by giving back and gaining valuable insight into the educational systems in different countries.
I have always enjoyed learning about the cultures of different people around the world. This life-changing experience of navigating a new and different culture outside my country will leave me with many stories and skills that I can take into my college years and beyond. I feel beyond privileged to have this opportunity, and I am very excited.
No donation is too small to help me achieve my lifelong dream and I am happy to help out how I can in exchange for your support. Thank you for your time and consideration!
