Help Lacey and Rachel Recover
Spende geschützt
As most of you know, Lacey Stewart (she/her) and her partner Rachel Levitt (they/them) were in a car accident on Sunday, March 6th. Rachel was driving when they hit a patch of ice; at the same time, a large semi passed them and sent the car into a fishtail, and they crashed head-on into one of the few trees on the prairie in Kansas. Rachel sustained cuts, bruises, and crush injuries and has been released from the hospital to recover at home. Lacey’s injuries, however, were more substantial. She is still hospitalized and faces a lengthy rehab that will require months in a facility with nursing care. Lacey suffered a compound fracture of her right ankle that required emergency surgery, a broken right hand, a deep head laceration that required stitches, and scans to assess for a brain injury. She also has crush injuries and cuts all over her body.
If you know Rachel and Lacey, you know they have dedicated their lives to queer, trans, feminist, social justice work. As a therapist, Lacey helps people heal from some of the worst traumas that life has to offer. Rachel is a dedicated teacher and community organizer. They both love the life they have built together, supporting their community, but it does not pay very well. The road to recovery for Lacey will be a long and expensive one. Health insurance and car insurance only cover a small amount. Any contribution would help!
