Help Kori Fight Diabetes: Support Needed
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Lauren, and this is my cat, Kori!
Kori was found abandoned behind my workplace as a kitten no older than three months. While his siblings were caught and brought to a shelter, he instead came home with me to live a spoiled, happy life with a new family. For ten years, he's been a perfectly healthy cat, weighing in at 15 pounds of mostly muscle and a lil bit of fat. He even had a leukemia scare, but fortunately it was a false positive, and he never had another health issue since.
Recently, Kori was diagnosed with diabetes. He'd just lost a tooth, and shortly after started losing a lot of weight very quickly - he now weighs just 7 pounds. It's been heartbreaking to see my baby so skinny, and so hungry all the time.
His first visit included blood work and a follow-up which involves more testing and some supplies (vetsulin and syringes) as well as some flea treatments. The total for just two days was over $800, and it was only the beginning.
Since then, almost every week he's needed to have yet another glucose curve done, totalling about $140 each week. I have exhausted two credit cards and help from my mother to afford this care, but I've been making it work for the sake of my cat. I love him too much.
But it's taking a toll.
Here, I'm hoping to recover the funds needed for this unexpected expense. $2000 covers what's already been spent, and any more would help cover future supplies (he's going to need more vetsulin soon). Fortunately, he's finally stabilizing, so weekly visits are no longer necessary.
Thank you for reading! Kori and I thank you in advance for any help you can offer us!
