Help Kendra's Family during her Cancer Treatment
Spende geschützt

Hi there.
Kendra (mom) was diagnosed with cancer recently after several months of testing. She had been feeling increasingly unwell and been having abdominal pain for 6 months. The diagnosis is a rare Leiomyosarcoma of/near the IVC. She is going in for surgery on December 19th for an Exploratory Laparotomy, with Dr. Mathew Chung at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. This surgery is to remove the primary sarcoma in her abdomen and see what other organs/tissues may have involvement with the tumor. We will have a better idea about a treatment plan after the surgery.
For family support Kendra has two boys, Connor, 16 and Aiden, 22 and family friend "Aunt Pat, 71. While we are doing our best to support her, as a family, we will need more financial support, as she takes time off for treatment. As of this week, she has taken some time off from the restaurant where she works, as well as the several side gigs that help make ends meet. It is difficult for her to ask for help when needed, as she prefers to be the one doing the helping. We have a very small family, with few resources, but we have so many wonderful friends who we know we can count on during this tough time.
Fortunately, we have insurance coverage for much of the medical billing. We will need help covering our major family expenses for at least 6 weeks of treatment. The surgery recovery will be 2-3 weeks alone. While Kendra is eager to get back to doing Doordash, selling on Poshmark, and working at the Copper Post, we need to plan on allowing her time to heal. We need funds for rent, car payment, and other household bills, as we quickly went through our saving during the last few months, of testing and illness.
Happy Holidays to All!

Dec 22 update
Feeling pretty rough after surgery. Shws still in lots of pain. They needed to make an incision through the entire midsection as the sarcoma was in diffcult deep spot. It was growing into the IVC. The team removed the entire tumor and rebuilt part of the vein they had to remove.
All in all a successs but will require more recovery time..The new release date is dec 26th.
While no one wants to be in the hospital over the holidays, we are just grateful for life love family and friends. Thank you all for the love, words of encouragement, and help with funds for bills.
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Still here in hospital but should be out tomorrow or next day.

We Snuck downstairs to see the pretty tree in the lobby.
