Aamis was placed in my care when he was six months old. I was granted sole legal custody of him just after he turned one. After I was granted custody, his biological mother requested visits that I supervised.
The visits occurred when she asked for them. In the span of six months, she chose to spend less than 24 hours with him. Aamis has not heard from, or seen her for two and a half years. She has not attempted to contact me to talk with him.
Aamis' biological mother has had us served papers, asking for custody of Aamis. He has been diagnosed with Autism, and removing him would be detrimental to him, and his development.
We are asking for enough to pay an attorney retainer, so we can have her rights to him removed.
If she would like to have a relationship with him, we are open to that possibility. Tearing him away from the only family he's known, through legal action, is not the way to accomplish that. It would have a horrible impact on him.
