Help Kat Pay Minimum Co-Pay for Cancer Treatment

Hi, My name is Kirsten and I am fundraising on behalf of one of my very dearest friends, Kat Richardson. She has stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She was diagnosed triple negative in spring of 2019, and since then has undergone many surgeries including a radical double mastectomy, a radical hysterectomy, a lung lobe removal, clipping of her colon, appendix removal, and breast reconstruction. She worked for much of this time but in February of 2021 she had to make the heartbreaking choice to step away from her career in order to take care of herself in hopes of living longer to raise her sons. She has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, along with many support medications. She is currently scheduled to do proton therapy next and her doctor is very hopeful that completion of this will give her more time. At this point, time is the best we can hope for as she will be fighting cancer for the rest of her days. This fight has had many ups and downs and has never been easy but perhaps one of the hardest parts has been the financial strain cancer puts on her family. She has robbed Peter to pay Paul in the name of paying for treatments and copays and prescriptions as much as any person can do and even still she finds herself needing help. I am trying to raise the remainder of a very large co-pay she needs in order to begin proton therapy. She is a wonderful mom of 3 boys (plus extra lost kiddos that needed a home). She has cared for and shown up for more people than I can count in my lifetime, and she has always strived to be a good person at the end of everyday. Her needing to ask for help after being the helper for so many, for so long, is one of the hardest challenges she has ever had to face.
