Help Karen Walk Again: Fund Her Prosthetic Leg and Housing.

Hello and thanks for taking the time out to read my story. My name is Karen, aka Wingy, and I hope this message finds you in good health and strength. I am originally from Jamaica, but I currently live in Philadelphia. I am a very hard worker as I used to work in the homecare and childcare field taking care of the elderly and children. I find joy in helping my family and those in need.

I have diabetes, which I’ve had for quite a long time which made loose my 5 toes on my left foot but it has recently caused me to lose my right leg on August 1st of this year. Losing my leg has made my living situation almost unbearable as I am getting evicted with no place to move into. I also want to get a prosthetic leg so that I can walk again. I had emergency health insurance to cover my hospital bill and rehab expenses but since leaving the hospital the insurance has been cancelled so it doesn’t cover the prosthetic leg even though I already started the process to get the prosthetic leg by getting my leg molded but because the insurance is cancelled the prosthetic company had to put me on hold. The cost of the prosthetic leg is $5,000 and I cannot afford that on my own.

I currently can’t work due to my leg being amputated, so financially, things have been very hard for me. I’m just trying to get help from anyone I can so I can move into a better living situation and get myself a prosthetic leg so I can walk again and gain back my independence. I want to be able to work again and take care of myself and my needs as I used to before. I just want to gain back my independence as I have always been the strong one who helps others.
