Help Kai Buy Books for Refugee Families

Donation protected
Refugee Reads is a book collection project started in August 2021 by Kai, an 11-year-old from Texas.
Kai is a bookworm: he reads when he wakes up and before bed, in the car and in the swimming pool, on his own and with his family. Sometimes his mom has to yell to him not to read while walking down the stairs at his house.
As part of his homeschool studies, Kai is learning about the experiences of refugees and immigrants to the United States throughout our country's history. Volunteering with Refugee Services of Texas in Fort Worth, he learned that many refugees come to the U.S. without books. Though they receive basic needs to get their homes set up, they may not have many other personal possessions.
Kai loves books "because they're a portal into different lives and worlds." He wants to make sure every new refugee who comes to our community can have at least one book of their own, so he decided to hold a book drive. He named the project Refugee Reads.
Refugee Reads isn't a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, but some people have asked us if it will be someday. We think that would be pretty cool, but for now we're just trying to get as many books for refugees as we can this fall!
All monetary donations will be used exclusively for the purchase of books for refugee families. If you have books you would like to donate, please visit www.refugeereads.org for more information.
Kai would be so grateful to have your help making this project a success. Thank you!
