Help Julie Heal and Stay on Her Feet – Literally and Figuratively

Hi everyone, my name is Courtney, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of someone who means the world to me — Julie Rankin. Julie has been part of my life since I was a child. Though not related by blood, she’s always been like an aunt to me, and to our whole family. She was best friends with my Aunt T.J., and even after T.J. passed, Julie stayed a part of our lives — loving, loyal, and full of heart.

Now, she needs our help.

Life Has Hit Julie Hard — Again and Again

Over the past few years, Julie has endured unimaginable hardship:

• 2020 – She lost her beloved Jamie.

• January 2024 – She suffered an accident and lost her right index finger.

• March 2024 – She became septic due to a kidney stone obstruction and endured multiple surgeries on her right kidney.

• June 2024 – She stepped on a tack while moving from Elwood to Cicero and developed a serious infection in her right foot, leaving her unable to work or walk until September.

• April 2025 – The same foot became infected again. Doctors are now considering amputation. Julie currently can’t work or bear weight on her foot at all.

And on top of all this, her car has broken down multiple times, leaving her stranded and overwhelmed. Just last night, her car broke down again on the way home from (Cody) work. Myself, my kids’ father, and all three of my children were out there until after midnight working to get it fixed. We’re hopeful the car will finally be back up and running tomorrow — but this has been just one more burden on a growing pile.

Despite all this, Julie remains one of the most giving, kind and warm-hearted people I know.

Her Son is Trying, But It’s Too Much Alone

Her son, Cody Rankin, is doing his best. He graduated from Elwood High School in 2023 and now works at Burger King in Tipton. But even with long hours and full effort, the bills are piling up — rent, utilities, groceries, gas, medical expenses — and it’s simply more than one person can carry.

We’re raising funds to help Julie and Cody with the essentials:

• Basic bills and living expenses

• Transportation to/from medical appointments

• Support during Julie’s recovery

• Construction of a ramp to make the home accessible for Julie’s condition
