Help Jonah Aljoboury Beat Cancer!

Everyone loves a good story and we're hoping ours has a happy ending, but let's start at the beginning. My significant other, Jonah Aljoboury, and I met in high school; while working at a restaurant together, I knew that he was a guy who would love me completely. After high school, we tried our hand at college but didn't want to throw money at something when we weren't sure what path we wanted to take in education. We chose to live closer to my hometown, as Jonah's family had all moved away, and his parents now live in PA. Jonah and I had been slowly building a life, working and making plans for our future which included returning to school, when our world suddenly got flipped upside down. In August of 2022, we noticed a growth or mass on his foot. While we weren't thinking the worst, we continued to monitor it and watch it grow. We sought the care of several doctors who didn’t take the matter seriously, getting passed from one to another. Jonah had an MRI done on his foot on November 3rd, we waited for the doctor to call us to discuss the results and to hear what the next steps would be but that call never came. Jonah had to reach out to their office several times before finally hearing that the specialist had transferred his case to another doctor in a completely different town without ever telling him, they ultimately ended up canceling on us the day before his biopsy was supposed to happen. At this point, weeks have gone by and this mass has continued to grow and cause him a lot of pain. Through the help of family, we were thankfully pointed in the right direction which led us to Colorado and the Limb Loss Preservation Center, who took the matter seriously. After a battery of tests and a biopsy, Jonah was diagnosed in Dec 2022 with Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare type of cancer for his age as he had just turned 21 in Sept of 2022. The cancer Jonah has been diagnosed with is pediatric cancer so he has been transferred to Rocky Mountain Children's Hospital where he can get the best possible treatment for his care and hope for a bright future. Jonah started VAC I chemotherapy on Jan. 10" and is currently on his 2nd cycle and is responding well. However, the treatments have been taking their toll on his body. He most recently went through the 5-day irinotecan treatment which leaves him sick and feeling fatigued every day. He has also lost all his beautiful blonde hair which he has taken in stride. Some days are worse than others for him, he still has good days but working daily with constant head and body aches and the horrible digestive tract side effects is almost impossible. We are both so young and with me being his only physical support and full-time caregiver, it's been hard, not going to lie. We are doing our best to remain positive through this process and we have a long way to go. Jonah has always been the one to take care of me for the last 3 years, so not being able to work full-time and support us has been hard on him. On top of both of us not being able to work full time, we have to make the weekly trips to Denver for treatment which is about a three-hour drive. As if life wasn't already kicking us in the gut, on our drive back from his last appointment in Denver his car started acting up and has to go into the shop to be looked at. The last thing we want is to be stranded on the side of the road a couple of hours from home in unpredictable weather. Fortunately, my parents have an extra car we can use for the time being, but that brings me to why we are opening this fund. We could use any help or assistance getting us through the next few months to a year. We are hoping with enough donations he can take time off work so he can just work on his health and fight this battle without having so much extra stress. This journey has just started and he will have another 12 rounds of chemo. In the near future, Jonah will be reevaluated for surgery, so they can remove the sarcoma from his foot. Jonah would need to take time off for recovery as well as need time to begin radiation. With all the uncertainties facing us, any financial assistance would be deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read our story we hope that you share and we appreciate any good wishes, thoughts and prayers that can be sent our way.
