Help Jeff & Margie with Cancer Expenses
Spende geschützt
Hi everyone, please take a moment to join us in coming together to support our dear friends, Jeff & Margie Calderwood. On May 13th of 2020, Jeff had an MRI and was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer.
Cancer started in his prostate and then later metastasized to his spine, infiltrating the spinal column area, damaging some vertebrae, and impacting a few other areas. Shortly thereafter, Jeff had a biopsy and it was determined that he had 2 to 5 years life expectancy with this form of cancer.
In June, Jeff had 10 sessions of Radiation and then later had six infusions of Chemotherapy from July through October. The tumors did shrink some but left compression fractures in the bones along his spine and other areas.
Because of his cancer Jeff is no longer able to work or hold down a job. As of the end of September 2020, he no longer has insurance with his former employer (Dunn Lumber Company) and he has used up the paid family medical leave for the state of Washington. He paid for Cobra Insurance to cover medical expenses through the end of December and now Jeff has been added to Margie’s insurance. As a result of this, he will have to meet new deductibles.
With your help we would like to raise $26,000 to cover Jeff and Margie’s ongoing expenses due to loss of income and as needed for cancer treatment. Jeff will have continued medical needs, on-going bone therapy, Physical Therapy, hormone therapy, and then check-ups and other medical procedures as needed for his cancer.
Many of you are friends, family, coworkers, and church family. For us, Jeff and Margie have been a part of our lives since the year 2000 when they became a part of our church fellowship, Coal Creek Chapel. Jeff was involved in vocal music and worship team and both he and Margie were involved with stage productions. Margie later became involved in women’s ministry as well.
Should God lead you to give to this cause, both Karrie and I, as well as the Calderwoods would greatly appreciate anything you do.
A Note from Margie:
Hello dear friends,
This is Margie, Jeff’s wife, and I just wanted to share a bit with you.
When we were told Jeff had cancer, I had the initial shock, then feelings of disbelief. Over the next several weeks, it gradually sunk in as to what that would mean for us (Jeff in particular and me as his spouse).
It was a bit overwhelming at first and especially when I realized what Jeff could no longer do or participate in and how much I had to step in to help him and take over various tasks he used to do.
COVID-19 was a blessing in disguise for us. I work in a school office and since school buildings were closed Spring of 2020, I was able to work from home and be with Jeff. Add to that my summer break, and then the slow return to work in the fall, I was able to be available for his treatments and doctor visits. Even now, things are slow enough that when I have to be out of the office, I am not overwhelmed with work when I return. I am so thankful for that and the time I can spend with Jeff.
Along with that blessing, God brought good friends to bless us financially and to come along side with much needed encouragement. Our Provider knows what we need and when we need it. I am so blessed and thankful to see Him working out even the little things that have challenged us with this situation.
I am daily being reminded to keep my eyes on the Lord and His blessings and not on the raging sea around me (Matthew 14:28-33).
Thank you for your prayers and for your consideration to come alongside of us financially.
