Help Jay Support his kids
Spende geschützt
Our friend, Jay Schanck was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer on 8/24/21. He had no family history of this and just started showing symptoms before he went to the doctors. From here he had many scans, test and doctor appointments. Within three weeks from being diagnosed he had started chemotherapy and radiation 5 days a week. Then he had a surgery on 12/28/21 which he had many complications to follow. He was told he would be in the hospital for 4 days and he spent a total of 21 days in all together. He is now on his second round of chemotherapy which he will do for approximately 4 months. After this he will have another surgery to remove his stoma so he will no longer have a ileostomy bag. From here he will be able to start his recovery and new life.
He has 4 children and is the sole provider for his family. We want to help Jay to take part of the financial burdens off the table.
Anyone who knows the “Jay Bird” loves him. He is an extremely hard worker, incredible father and a really good person.
This experience has changed Jay’s life. He is making it his mission to help other people who are fighting this disease. He has contacted many states to be involved in cancer walks and speak at the functions. Jay has made a point to spread the word about the importance of getting a colonoscopy to all that will listen. And you WILL listen because he is relentless. 30 or 40 of his friends have gone and several of them have found that they had early-stage cancer. They caught it early and at a stage that is easily treatable. Jay is doing this while still going thru chemo, spending many days in the hospital, multiple surgeries, working when he can and raising his kids.
He still has a battle in front of him, which includes more chemo treatments and possible hospital stays. His ability to work is greatly diminished. His oldest son Jason has a seasonal job so he is helping with his home care now. He will be going back to work next month so Jay will need to be on his own. Being able to pay his bills is becoming very difficult, nearing impossible.
Anything will help. Along with donations, helping to share his story anywhere and everywhere is appreciated.
Please share the link to help Jay and his family get thru a very tough time.
