Help Jason's Children

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Heidi and I'm fundraising for my brother's children.

On Saturday, April 17,2021, Jason Hammer passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 49 in Lacey, WA.

Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, family member and friend. Jason Hammer (Jay) was all of these things and more. Born in Colorado on February 28, 1972, Jason was the middle child of Robert Hammer (76) and Karla Hammer (72). He is survived by his three children; Taylor (19), Derek (16) and Dylan (12). He is also survived by his siblings, niece and nephews; His brother Blake Hammer (50) and his two sons, Michael (24) and Matthew (20) and his sister Heidi Hammer (47) and her daughter, Karleigh (14). He also leaves behind his girlfriend Kristi and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

The family left Colorado in 1983, moving to Tacoma, WA before settling in Gig Harbor, WA shortly after. Jason graduated Gig Harbor High School in 1990. Upon graduation, Jason took after his father and began his career in glazing and construction. He was a very hard worker and had the respect of many of his co-workers and associates.

He was well-known for not only his work ethic, but his contagious smile and fun-loving personality. He loved to tell a good story and to make people laugh. He could find the humor in almost any situation. He was always smiling and people were drawn to him. He was also very family oriented and his favorite Saturday would be having us all get together for dinner and maybe a game of poker or Wii bowling.

On any given Sunday, you’d find him watching football. Either cheering on or being an arm chair quarterback for his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos. He loved all things Broncos. You could ask him any question about them, or any football team for that mattter, and guaranteed he’d have an answer for you. He was a walking encyclopedia for statistics. We always told him he should be a commentator for
the sport.

I invite anyone reading this to please include your favorite memory of Jason. Maybe a story he told or anything that reminds you of him.

We will not be having the traditional funeral service for him. He was cremated on Friday, April 23, 2021. His remains will be with his family. We will be having a celebration of his life in the upcoming months. Please leave your information below if you’d like an invite to this gathering.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to his children at the gofundme page provided.
