Last week, the unthinkable happened.

I got a phone call from Jane in the middle of the day, and I knew immediately something was terribly wrong. Their whole apartment building was on fire.

What started as a small fire from lightning hitting the side of the building, turned into something catastrophic within 5 minutes. The fire hit the gas lines, and everything erupted into flames.

They are safe, but lost everything they had been creating to start their life together in the past year… including irreplaceable photos and things close to their hearts.

They barely had time to make it out, just their driver’s licenses and thankfully… their two cats. Other animals in the building did not make it since their owners were not home

Their guardian angels were watching over them for certain. We don’t know what we would have done if anything had happened to them… the thought of it makes me sick to my stomach. But God… is our family grateful they were protected.

In light of this, I created this Go-Fund-Me for them. Anything you can contribute will help them out. Or if anyone wants to send gift cards for food, or from places where they can start getting back some of what they lost, or directly Venmo them… anything is appreciated. And if that isn’t possible, prayers, good thoughts, and supportive messages… are also needed and welcome.

I’m so proud of them for keeping their heads on straight right now. But I know they’re struggling and in shock. Thank you to everyone that has already reached out, and offered them help in this past week.

Another reminder how life is so, so incredibly fragile. And in a minute, your life can be turned upside down with sudden loss, and the regrets for not living it fully with the ones you love. We are all on borrowed time.
