Help Italia's Family Through Eduardo's Battle

Hello everyone. We’re asking for your help as we come together to help raise funds to support our dear friend, Italia Benitez. Her husband, Eduardo Benitez, is currently battling Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), a highly complex, deadly, and treatment-resistant brain cancer, placing significant emotional and financial strain on patients and families.

In September of 2023, Italia and Eduardo made a trip to the ER because he was having difficulty speaking. Tests were performed and in October it was confirmed that Eduardo had a Stage 4 GBM Brain Tumor. While at the hospital receiving this news, Eduardo suffered multiple epileptic seizures, as well as a heart attack. It was also discovered that he had a perforation in his intestines and had to undergo emergency surgery. Soon after his GBM diagnosis, Eduardo also underwent brain surgery, which was a success, but Eduardo still required additional treatment in the form of radiation and chemotherapy. Despite the successful brain surgery, the Cancer was back in November, only a month after surgery. Unfortunately, radiation and chemotherapy have proven to be ineffective. He was able to finish 42 session of Radiotherapy, but only 39 days of Chemotherapy. Treatment had to be stopped due to low platelets (one of the side effect of the Chemo) since December 30th, and he is not able to continue treatment since platelets are still low.

Eduardo has been in an out of the hospital since September 2023. Italia has managed to be by his side every moment she can, but it has been extremely challenging as she has to work to support her family, as well as take care of their 3 young children, ages six, three and one. Their new baby boy is such a happy baby, Eduardo’s first boy after having 4 girls. Such a joy, but heartbreaking to see Eduardo break down every time he sees his son smile at him.

Italia has missed a lot of work because of the emergency trips to the ER. She is a strong and independent woman, and the financial burden is more than she wants to admit. She doesn’t like asking for help, which is why we’re kindly asking for her. Every contribution helps, big or small, you will be making a difference for Italia and her babies.
