Hello. My name is Karrah and most of you know my grandmother, Iris Jourdain. A little over a year ago, Iris was diagnosed with Lung Cancer which came as a big surprise because she had absolutely zero symptoms that indicated something was wrong by. Unfortunately , because of other illnesses and her age, she was not eligible to have surgery to remove the tumor as the surgery had a higher risk of taking her life. She went through 2 rounds of intense chemotherapy and radiation and a round of immunotherapy. The treatments at the time seemed to have worked because her tumor shrunk 50% of its size. We were so happy and hopeful that she possibly could have been cured of cancer with the help of more treatments. One day she woke up and she eas

not herself. Her cough became so intense that she nearly stopped breathing every time she has a coughing fit and calling 911 was a regular thing for us. The most recent hospital stay was the day our hearts broke. Her cancer had spread into other organs and she the PET scan revealed that there was not much more they could do to help her and as a family we decided to put her on hospice to help relieve her symptoms which were extreme cough, low oxygen levels, extreme pain, and other saddening symptoms. Her energy levels dropped and she was staying in bed more and more. When the doctor told us how serious her condition was, he recommended it was time time to bring her home to Canada so she could see her husband and other family members. Stage 4 terminal lung cancer has completely broken our hearts. Grandma Iris spent the majority of her life helping others through social work, therapy, and traditional Native American healing. She saved many lives.

We started this fundraiser to help us with moving expenses to Canada such as warm clothing, special diet items, and transportation. She also needs home health items like commodes, diapers, bed pads, shower chairs/wipes, and copayments on medication to keep her comfortable and pain free. Funding will also go towards the medical bills she accumulated and also to her home bills like utilities and upkeep of her Florida home.
