To help run a refugee shelter in Ukraine

Donation protected
Hi there my name is Magdalena and I have the incredible opportunity to do something good without doing anything at all. A good friend of mine has been working in Ukraine's City of Khmelnytskyi as a director of a religious & social educational centre. His purpose changed dramatically in the past few days in the wake of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
His name is Bartłomiej Przepeluk and we've known each other since we were 7. We are both Polish and we grew up in a small town on western Poland where a huge proportion of residents are those who were born to people moving from today's territory of Ukraine into new territories of Western Poland during the partition of 1945. That is my own family's history, with 3 out of 4 granparents and their ancestors grew up and lived near town called Ternopil. I heard stories of what Ukraine looked and what it was like to live there. Lviv was another Polish centre in the middle of what today is Ukraine. We have an incredible obligation to give back and and so I am raising money. I have already raised over £400 via private bank transfers but wanted to allow my friends in other countries to contribute as well.
This is not about supporting a religious organisation but about providing shelter and safe haven to those who are running away from war. To those who are aiming to reach the west in search of refuge and peace. Over half a million Ukrainians reached Poland with a total of 1 milion Ukrainians in other countries. This in part is only possible thanks to halfway houses like this.
Bartek and his team of volunteers' work so far has been incredible. The school building houses max 40 guests a night but on 26th Feb there were in excess of 70, including children. All of this involves heating, lighting, cooking, supplies of food, water, first aid and hygiene products. All linen and towels need to be washed, meals need to be cooked and animals, which are also welcomed, need to be fed. There is nighttime curfew throughout Ukraine, which means people have to sleep indoors and his monastery provides an ideal resting place. It is located half 5 hours from all the key border crossings.
Supporting Bartek provides an immediate relief to the effects of this pointless war and gives hope for the future.
