Help improve healthcare access at Busunya (Ghana)

Hi everyone, I am Dr. Ernestina Bioh-Hansen Sackey, a Medical Doctor from Ghana and currently a postgraduate researcher based in the USA. I am collaborating with Deborah Brown Majekondumi, a 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow from Nigeria, and Marilou Watson from Philadelphia, USA,   who has dedicated her time and efforts to support critical projects in countries within Sub-Saharan Africa.
Our goal is to help mobilize funds and resources to support the selfless efforts of our colleague and friend, Dr. Joel Duah Afi to finance expansion efforts geared at providing essential primary healthcare services to several communities in Busunya in the Nkoranza North District of Ghana.

 

As a result of inadequate healthcare access, many children and the elderly in the Busunya community, Northern Ghana are at increased risk of common preventable infectious and non-communicable diseases

To help reduce this imminent health crisis, Dr. Joel Duah Afi has dedicated over 5 years of his medical career to improving health services delivery and increasing access for many villages around Busunya. With the assistance of the United States African Development Foundation, Joel co-founded the Abusua Community Medical Centre which has been delivering quality and innovative healthcare services to these communities.

 

 

Dr Joel Duah Afi has also championed several other developmental initiatives including the provision of potable water through the work with Hope for Ghana borehole projects in Bono East and the ‘’Time with the Kids and Widows’’ project which provides free health screening, food, drinks, and toys to the most vulnerable and underprivileged in the community where they serve.

 

The clinic is going through an expansion phase and we would like to encourage you to support the good work with your donation to purchase additional medical equipment to augment the service provision at the clinic. Items needed include; portable ultrasound scan with convex, linear, and cardio probes; Electrocardiogram machine, Automated External defibrillator, fetal Doppler, diagnostic set, neonatal resuscitation set, pulse oximeter, operating instruments set, computers, internet routers among other needs. This will go a long way to enhance the service provision and outreach services to very difficult and hard-to-reach areas within the communities with timely healthcare.
