Huda Family Reunion & Rebuild a New Safe Life

Dear reader,

My name is Thaer Abed, I'm an American citizen living in Ramallah, West Bank, with my wife and 3 kids. I'm setting up this Gofundme page for my neighbor Huda, who has her entire family stuck in Rafah, Gaza, along with 1.2 million Gazans. I am stepping in to help launch this campaign on her behalf. She is not only my neighbor but a very close family friend of ours. All donations will go directly to Huda, who is helping her family to evacuate from Rafah, Gaza.

Here is the story of my neighbor Huda:

Hello my name is Huda. I live in the West Bank as a law clerk for a judge at the Palestinian Judicial Insititue. I had aspirations to be a lawyer, but everything changed after October 7. I am the only one in my family who is living in the West Bank right now. Both of my parents (64 & 54), my brother (29), my sister (26), along with her husband (33) and 3 kids (6, 3 and 25 days old) are currently seeking refuge at Rafah. My sister just gave birth to a premature baby.

Their lives before October 7 was simple but safe. They were living in Tal-Alhawa, in the north of Gaza.

After October 7, their house was bombed. My family was inside the house when it was bombed but they survived.

They travelled to Rafah and now displaced in Rafah, living in tents. I'm doing this fundraise to help my family evacute Rafah and cross the Egypt border to safety.

My family has been living in dire conditions in Rafah and I'm afraid of their safety every single day. We try to communicate everyday but that is not always possible. Currently, only immediate families are able to send money to Gaza and I'm trying my best to financially support them, but getting them out of Gaza is becoming incredibly difficult and hence I want to raise funds to cover costs for my family's passage fees through Rafah. This includes border crossing for 8 people, $5000 each for 5 adults and $2,500 each for 3 children, plus the platform fees at 2.9% (total of US$33,442.5). I'm adding an additional amount for them to buy food and necessities for their survival. This brings to a total of US$40,000.

Even with the hope of a permanent lasting ceasefire, my family at this stage living in a tent with a newborn is not safe. I wish nothing but the safety of my family. I wish I lived in a world where I didn't have to raise funds to save my family from bombs and starvation. But I don't live in that world and I appreciate each and every one of you for contributing to this fundraiser. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
