This GoFundMe was created for Hector Figueroa, a brave and loving young boy who recently turned 15 years old.
On May 21, 2024, when Hector was just 13, his family received the heartbreaking news that he had leukemia. Hector endured nearly a full year of chemotherapy, and doctors initially told his family there was a 90% chance the cancer could be treated. If chemotherapy worked, a transplant would be the next step.
Unfortunately, the chemotherapy did not help Hector — instead, his condition worsened. Doctors then attempted CAR-T cell therapy, using Hector’s own cells. At first, they believed the treatment was successful, and Hector showed signs of improvement. His sister later donated her bone marrow, and Hector grew stronger for a short time.
Sadly, about a month later, Hector’s condition declined again. Doctors presented his family with two difficult options:
• one month of harsher chemotherapy, or
• palliative care.
His family chose to fight and proceeded with chemotherapy, but it made Hector extremely weak and was unsuccessful. He is now in the process of receiving palliative care.
Doctors have told the family there is no cure, and they have been asked to begin preparing for the unimaginable.
Hector’s Make-A-Wish request was denied, but his greatest dream is simple: to go to Disneyland.

El 21 de mayo de 2024, cuando Hector tenía apenas 13 años, su familia recibió la devastadora noticia de que tenía leucemia.
