HELP GRANDMOTHER REPLACE HEAT PUMP

Recently while my wife and I were sitting on our deck, we noticed that our next door neighbor’s A/C unit was not coming on during one of those hot, South Carolina summer days. When we noticed a window air conditioner unit appear in one of the windows, another neighbor confirmed that Mary’s (not her real name) A/C heat pump had stopped working and that she had an estimate to replace it for $6,000. Mary is a sweet, single grandmother holding down a full-time night-shift job at a warehouse. She is not one to complain or ask for help and the only way that we learned of her situation was through our observations and talking with another neighbor that helps everyone in our neighborhood with lawn care, home repairs etc, at no cost. Because this unit is a heat pump, if we cannot get her unit replaced before cold weather sets in, she will have a very difficult time heating her home. I think we can get the job done for significantly less than the $6000 she was quoted, and if so, we will reduce the funding amount accordingly. If we can help Mary replace her heat pump, I know that she will be eternally thankful to all who help. Any donation amount will be greatly appreciated.
