Help Give Khulu a Traditional Burial

Hi, you may have known our dad, Khulu, personally or just have heard us tell stories about him. I'm so sad to say he passed away on May 28. After suffering a stroke in mid-May, he never fully recovered his capacities. It was a quick decline over the last week, and we are consoled to know he was surrounded by those who loved him, and everything was done to make him comfortable during his transition.

Khulu was highly respected by his family and his community. A traditional burial in Zimbabwe requires many ceremonies that include a showing, a funeral, and a hosted reception. Because Khulu was a much-loved elder in his family and community, many people will come to pay their respects. In order to pay our own respects, John and Mpho will both be flying to Zimbabwe this week to fulfill our role as his children and to support our mother, Gogo.

Please consider helping to ease the burdon for our family as we travel to Zimbabwe and begin the traditional process that will include entertaining many people over multiple days. The last thing anyone should worry about after the death of a parent is how they will pay for the burial and funeral costs. Any gifts we receive will help our family and reduce our stress and go such a long way toward making the grieving process easier.
