Help get young Inuk woman off streets & in rehab
Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Jaelyn, and I'm fundraising for my little sister- Jasmyn. My sister is the sweetest soul you'll ever meet. She is so kind, artistic, gentle, understanding, loving and an overall amazing human being. To know her is to love her.
Disclaimer/Trigger warning: Trauma, abuse, addicitons, suicide All of the information mentioned is being shared with permission.
Unfortunately, Jasmyn has been dealt a tough hand. She has suffered years of mental, verbal, physical and emotional abuse. Both her parents have been deeply affected by the legacy of residential school, resulting in trauma that has made its way into her life. Her father committed suicide when she was 10 years old, and she spent the early years of her life in foster care after being taken away from her mother.
In 2017 she was taken into care to escape an unhealthy, abusive home situation. The Quebec authorities put her in a foster home where she was abused, and then when she reported it, they sent her to a youth detention center instead of finding other foster care (without her consent). While in the detention centre, she was assaulted by another violent youth and sustained a head injury that went untreated. On her 18th birthday, she was released from the juvenile facility with absolutely no support from the system in that province. She attempted to move to Ontario to seek help but was unsuccessful, and without stable housing, support or stability began to slip through the system's cracks. Over the next couple of years, she began to age out of services and began to fall into the cycle of poverty and addiction.
The last few years have been a nightmare as she has gone missing multiple times and has been consumed by the streets. Until recently, she has avoided family but is ready to get off the street and into care. The plan is to rent a car and drive Jasmyn from Ottawa to Vancouver, where she can be with her family. Due to the nature of her addiction, she cannot fly and has to have access to support along the way. Once in Vancouver, the goal is to have her housed until she can enrol in a medical detox and rehab program.
The time I have to help my sister secure safety is crucial. If you know anything about losing a loved one to addictions, you'll understand. I want to see my sister alive and living a life that she deserves. Please consider donating.
I am raising money to cover a rental car, the cost of gas, a hotel for two nights, safe supplies and food for the trip. Then funds to secure her a spot into a detox program.
Thank you,
Jaelyn
