Help Get Precious Safe

Donation protected

Disclaimer: This gofundme might be taken down, since many “grassroots organizations” in Austin have decided against helping Precious and try to report anyone speaking on Precious’s story as an attempt to silence her and to save their face.

This is an urgent community ask. Precious is in great need of safety. Her safety has been compromised on a number of occasions as a method to silence her telling her story.

Precious is a Black trans woman based in Austin, Texas. During the Texas Winter Storm of 2021 Precious had reached out to "Austin mutual aid", an organization that works to prioritize direct aid for unhoused folk in Austin, for living support. They denied her with the deceiving excuse that they are not a direct aid organization. Yet since the Winter Storm, Austin mutual aid raised over $2MIL in donations, and seem to have no problem giving money to organizations in Austin they deem fit enough for. It doesn’t help that we have evidence that this so-called “mutual aid” group has been founded by professional grifters who have a history of starting grassroots efforts and allocating the money raised for communities they claim to work with dishonestly. Even after Precious has demanded Austin MA to face the harm they caused her, they refuse to acknowledge the harm was even done, thereby refusing to take actions to repair it. We (community organizers standing with Precious) have confronted them plenty of times, and asked that they take accountability for hurting and putting Precious in danger. Precious is just one of the many a part of the Black trans houselesss community in Austin, TX who have been neglected by Austin Mutual Aid. With that, Austin Mutual Aid continues to misrepresents what Mutual aid means and what caring and standing in solidarity with BlackTrans people means.

The funds we are raising for Precious will go towards maintaining her safety and survival. She needs money for food, utilities, transportation, and other living expenses.

Precious expresses, “I want to start talking with a mental health healer, I want to change my name legally, I want to hire a bodyguard to sit outside my door. I want a house or apartment, I want a security system for my house, I want training for self defense.” These are all things Precious wants off the top of her head in order to feel safe. We ask that you do your part in standing in solidarity with Precious and Black trans people overall, by donating here. If you can’t donate please share to get the word out. Anything helps. We are so thankful.
