Help Get Maia's Back (literally)

This is our little girl, Maia. She's a six year old Corgi with a larger-than-life personality and she's never NOT met a friend.

On Friday, 04/04/25 Maia was hurt. She was outside playing and made a little jump for her favorite ball. When she came down, she whimpered. We immediately stopped playing and went inside for the evening. The next day, it was clear she wasn't feeling well and, though we'd hoped that she could make it through to Monday for a vet checkup, on Sunday her back legs stopped working entirely.

We drove an hour up north to the nearest capable animal emergency clinic. When we got there, they said they would need to start with a CT scan and a contrast study to figure out what was going on. After they finished with those, they found that three of the discs in her lumbar spine had ruptured and, from one, the membrane wrapped around the spinal cord. They performed a hemilaminectomy, where they removed part of her vertebral arch to relieve some pressure on her spine. They also cleared out the debris from the disc rupturing.

The past two and a half weeks, she's been up there recovering post-surgery. She's had a little infection they cleared up, she's had cellulitis at the surgery site, and she's a catheter both inserted and removed. She was supposed to get physical therapy last week but, due to changing up her pain medicine and antibiotics, that's had to wait until this week. She's looking at aqua-treadmill work as well as laser light therapy. She's got some deep pain sensation in her paws, which is promising, but there's still such a long road of recovery ahead.

So, why we're here.. We've taken out loans to cover all $10k of her vet bills but the interest is what's making it tough. Money's tight for everyone, I know, and though it's embarrassing asking for help, pride isn't worth my little girl's wellbeing. I've applied for weekend and overnight work on top of my current full-time job as well. I'm exhausting every option I can to help get Maia taken care of. Anything helps and every update will have both health/progress and payment info.
