Help Geno on his road to recovery

May 2nd, 2017 my brother Geno was on vacation with his family in the Outer Banks. He dove into the ocean, hit his head off of the ocean floor causing him to fracture his C-6 and C-7 vertebrae in his neck also damaging his spinal cord. He was then rushed to a 5-hour emergency surgery where the medical team was able to replace the shattered vertebrae with metal rods and plates. The surgeons reported that it would take time for him to regain mobility and to be prepared for him to never walk again. But being the strong and resilient person my brother is, he was showing signs of improvement just hours after the surgery and continues to improve day-by-day. Geno will remain in Norfolk into mid-next week until he is stable enough to make the move back home. As for the future, Geno has a long road ahead but we are more than confident that he will get through this. Geno has impacted so many people's lives in such a positive way. Even through all of this, Geno has managed to keep a smile on his face!

This is a quote that is more than true for me and Geno. Being his little brother, I have looked up to him for everything in life. Geno is not only my best friend, but he is also my hero. When we were growing up, we did everything together and to this day, we still do. I don't know if anyone, even Geno, will ever understand how much he means to me. Geno is one of kind. He is an amazing son, sibling, husband and father. He would do anything for anybody and always makes sure that our family is taken care of! Now it is our turn to take care of him.
The medical expenses are quickly adding up for Geno only days after the accident. Not only does he have an extended stay in the Intensive Care Unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, but he also has a future of rehabilitation, physical therapy and other medical expenses. Unfortunately, this which will all become overwhelming for their young family, especially with their second child coming in just three short months! Any donation that you can contribute is appreciated beyond words.
