Help Garfield Get the Medical Care He Needs

Meet Garfield! This poor guy has been through a lot in just the past few days.

Chase and I had been feeding a cat for two months in an industrial area under the flats. We were so excited when we finally took him to the Everett animal shelter! But an hour later, we went back to get our trap, and this poor guy was crying inside! We had never seen him before, and guess what? There was food left just 20 feet away from our trap, a day before!

The shelter seemed more upset with us for trapping another cat than they were with actually taking him and helping him. But thankfully, we have Penelope from Angel Resource Connections, who’s been amazing! She’s helping us foster him in her dedicated cat room, get him checked out by the vet, and make sure he’s healthy enough for adoption if no one comes forward in 30 days. We previously thought he was a senior but that is not the case. This boy is no older than 5 years old! 

But we did get some not-so-great news from the vet, Dr. Davis today. It seems more like Garfield might have been dumped. He has some crystals in his urine that we’re watching closely, and he also has some dental issues that need to be fixed soon! This made us think he was older than he actually is! 

The cost of all this is going to be a lot, and I’m so grateful that Penelope from Angel Resource Connections is offering to donate $500 to his vet bill. But we still need to raise the rest before he can get the work done.
