Help Fund Jon McLendon's Burial & Celebration

Hi, My name is Vance Ginn, and I am Jonathan McLendon's cousin. We spent much time together growing up so we were more like brothers than cousins. We celebrated his 33rd birthday on October 4, 2021. I did not know that would be the last time I would see him alive.

It is with a heavy heart that I must share with you that my beloved cousin/brother passed away on December 29th, 2021.

While we don’t know the specific cause, he died peacefully at home in Austin, Texas where he lived with his mother, Jackie Mclendon, and near his sister, Hannah Alvarado. He is also survived by his sister Heather McLendon Hart and his brother Carl McLendon. He has long battled Crohn’s disease since he was 16, which he wrote about to educate others on it at Crohn’s Anonymous.

Please pray for our family during this time of mourning. We know that Jon is no longer suffering but will miss his laughter, joy, music, and wisdom. He was a pleasure to be around and his genuine compassion for others through his hugs and questions were always on display, even with his dog, Sally.

Like me, there are many who are shocked by his death but want to help his mother and family through this tough time. I have asked them if it was okay for me to put this fundraiser together to help fund the burial and celebration of his life, which the family has decided to have at a place to be determined in March 2022.
