Help fund Jared's Volunteer Trip to Ghana

In January, I will be travelling to Ghana for 8 weeks to work on a significant social project with an incredible team. Vocational Impact is an international volunteer organisation that has created important projects in vulnerable communities.

I have spent the last three years studying Sport and Exercise Science focusing on sport psychology towards the end of the course. Therefore, come September, I’ll be bringing what I learned to Ghana’s coastal town, Senya Beraku. Here, myself and the Vocational Impact team will build a number of important community projects.

The project focuses on mentoring, child development, therapy, sports, education and activities. A particular emphasis will be placed on mental health services. Stigma surrounds this issue in Ghana. The government spending on mental health services reflects this issue. A mere 1.4% of the health budget is allocated to mental health support services. The fees raised for our project aim to close this gap through conflict resolution skills, sexual boundaries, consequence practice and play therapy for victims.

Not only will the contributions from this page be used to fund my trip, but a high percentage of the fees are also contributed directly to the project and the people of Senya Beraku. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will be going towards a really good cause. Along with this page, I will also be holding some fundraising challenges over the coming months, so stayed tuned!
