Help for Hensley Family

During the early morning hours of April 1st Aiden and his mother Kayla were injured in a tragic fire. Aiden who was asleep at the time when the fire was discovered, was pulled from the fire unresponsive and resuscitated. Both he and Kayla suffered injuries that have left both of them in critical condition. Aiden is currently at the UK Children’s Hospital in the pediatric ICU and Kayla is In the burn unit at Cincinnati hospital with burns over 70% of her body. Both of them have been able to be removed from the ventilator and Kayla has the ability to whisper and is asking about Aiden. Aidan is currently battling a respiratory infection/sepsis and has not regained consciousness. Aiden is 10 years old and has autism/fragile X syndrome. He experienced a brain injury due to the lack of oxygen from carbon monoxide poisoning resulting as an injury to his basal ganglia area in his brain. At this point doctors are unsure of what the prognosis will be for him.

Tyler (Aidens father) and Christy ( Aidens Nana) are at Aidens bedside at UK and have not left him. Kayla’s parents and family are with her in Cincinnati. It definitely is a strain to have them separated but the families are very thankful for the wonderful care they are receiving. Visitors are restricted.

Many people have reached out and inquired about how to help this family who lost everything in the fire and who is facing a long road to recovery.

All prayers and any donations to help replace items lost in the fire, cover expenses related to anything while staying in the hospital and travel expenses are needed and appreciated.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
