Help Firefighters in Croatia

My name is Petra Dizdar and while I currently live in New York, I am originally from Split (my family lives in Strozanac). Over the past few days, horrendous wildfires devastated the surrounding towns and villages around Split, Omis and central Croatian coast. Local firefighters and citizens have come together and worked night and day without any breaks to try to prevent the fire from spreading and destroying even more.
Despite their heroic efforts, the resources for our fist responders are minimal and they are in dire need of our help. With the support of numerous friends, the Association of Croatian American Professionals, and generous supporters in the U.S. and abroad, we decided to pool our skills, connections and resources to create a campaign dedicated to getting the much needed equipment for these heroes.
We have a group of people in Split - (in order to be able to do what we set out to do, we are keeping their names anonymous) - who are contacting the head firefighting association in Split, as well as smaller units spread across the surrounding towns, to find out what equipment would be of most help. Once we complete our fundraising goal, the money will be transferred into a bank account in my name, which will be used to purchase the equipment from the manufacturer in Croatia. We will not give out money -- as our donation, we will use 100% of the our funds to directly purchase and ensure delivery of those critical supplies to the local firefigthers in greatest need. I will provide updates, along with receipts and pictures after the purchase is made, and will share it with everyone to ensure full transparency.
