Help Morgan Fight for her Life
Beschermde donatie
I was blessed the day Morgan came into my life in high school. She's smart, talented, determined and loves fiercely. She fights for others. She's a true friend, a rare gem, and she is my best friend.
She has gone through several health challenges throughout life, but now more than ever, she and her family - her husband Chris and three sons - need help that goes beyond what I could ever do.
Morgan has been hospitalized for over 7 weeks now due to a rare brain disorder called Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome. It has taken away her memory and thoughts. At times she is confused, not recognizing her family, and doesn't seem to have a sense of her own self or the people who she loves the most. Morgan has fought Lupus, endured multiple surgeries, but this is the biggest fight of her 42 years.
The medical staff have been amazing in the difficult task of diagnosing and treating her with the necessary nutrition and medication to stop it from getting worse. The chances of her fully recovering aren't great, but are there nonetheless!
The Corona Virus crisis has made it all the more challenging. No visitors are allowed, reducing contact to phone calls and making it harder for Morgan to have the daily visual familiarity that helps stimulate her memory.
Nonetheless, she is a fighter. She has slowly shown progress in conversation and moving her body. Once she can be released from the hospital, she will need intensive rehab for physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
This is the current situation - searching for a long-term care facility that can carry out the needed therapies.
Together with the hospital, Chris is desperately trying to get Morgan into either assisted living or into a neurological rehabilitation center where her needs can be better assessed and treated. Locations in several neighboring cities are also included in the search.
Caring for Morgan, keeping track of everything medical as well as caring for their children and home is already more than a handful. This pandemic together with not having his partner Morgan, the heart and soul of their wedding events business, has forced Chris to close it down and get work elsewhere. It has been emotionally and mentally devastating for the family.
This is where you can help.
As you can imagine, hospital costs are immense and insurance does not cover 100%. These details of what expenses will be out-of-pocket are being determined.
Funds are immediately needed to cover these expenses, especially secure a long-term care facility, and other personal expenses the Munsons are incurring while coping with Morgan's illness.
Let's get together and help them through this! Please spread the word by sharing this link on your Facebook timeline or any social networks you use. Every bit of support is so much appreciated. Thank you! Every cent counts!
