Our sweet 21-year-old daughter, Emmalee (who has intellectual disabilities), has been battling a severe herniated disk that has left her in constant, debilitating back pain. What used to be simple, joyful parts of her life—riding her bike, going to church, attending hockey games, participating in Special Olympics, spending time outdoors, and attending adult life skills classes—now feels completely out of reach. Most days, she can barely get out of bed. Even riding in the car to doctor's appointments causes excruciating pain. As her parents, it's heartbreaking to watch.
We want to avoid surgery unless it is absolutely the last resort. After careful research and prayerful consideration, we had a consultation with a disc specialist who believes spinal decompression therapy could significantly help her heal and regain function without surgery. The recommended treatment plan includes 30 sessions, but unfortunately, insurance will not cover any of these treatments. If we are able to pay for the sessions upfront, we will receive a discount, making the total more manageable for our family. This is why we are reaching out.
Our goal is to raise enough so Emmalee can begin treatment as soon as possible and, we hope, get back to living the full, active life she loves. If you feel led to give, no amount is too small—every donation brings her one step closer to healing. If you're unable to give financially, sharing this fundraiser and keeping Emmalee in your prayers would mean so much to our family. Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for surrounding our daughter with love and support during this difficult time. With gratitude, Wesley, Heather, and Zach White
