Help Emilly Receive Life-Changing Eye Surgery
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted individuals,
My name is Kelly, and I am reaching out in hopes of receiving support for my baby daughter, Emilly, who was born with Peter’s Syndrome in her left eye. She has already undergone laser surgery in Ireland, but unfortunately, the procedure was not successful. The doctors here have recommended a corneal transplant, which is extremely risky at her young age.
After seeking a second opinion abroad, further examinations revealed that in addition to Peter’s Syndrome, Emilly also has a cataract under her cornea, which must be removed urgently. This surgery is essential to give her a chance to see clearly again. Doctors have advised that the best time for her to undergo the procedure is now, while she is still a toddler, to increase the chances of her eye healing and functioning properly. Following the surgery, Emilly will also need to wear patches on her good eye until she is seven, in order to strengthen the eye she has never fully used. At present, Emilly can only see shadows.
We are more confident in pursuing this delicate surgery abroad, as the doctors there have developed a clear plan to restore Emilly’s sight, unlike the limited options available here in Ireland. The public hospital here advised that we simply wait for a corneal transplant, but they offered little hope for Emilly’s vision and did not provide the care we believe she deserves.
The total cost for Emilly’s surgery, including the required cataract removal, is €7,000. Additionally, we must cover the expenses for flights, accommodation, food, and other living costs during our stay. The total estimated amount needed for everything is €15,000, which includes accommodation, flights, and the continued cost of rent here in Ireland while we are away.
As a family, we are unable to afford these costs on our own. Therefore, we are humbly asking for your help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Emilly’s life and her future.
We have chosen July for the surgery, as it is the most suitable time for travel, taking into account Emilly’s health and the climate back home, which she struggled with during our last visit. Our goal is to ensure that Emilly receives the care she desperately needs while she is still young, so that she can have the opportunity to see and live a full life.
We are incredibly grateful for any support or kindness you can offer, whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign with others. Your help will give Emilly the chance to live a life free from the limitations of her current condition, and we will be forever thankful for your generosity.
With heartfelt thanks,
