Help Elijah's Dream

Elijah (Illya) is an eight-year-old boy who has a terrible diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. He was born through C-Section, and everything was good until 5.5-month-old. At that age, he was diagnosed with CP.

 

As parents, we want to help Illya. We work out with him daily, take him to PT, OT, and Speech therapy, work with him at home and love him. Despite all of that, spasticity, which is the main problem because of brain damage, doesn’t allow Elijah to recover and progress in his development.

 

However, Dr.Park from St. Louis Children's Hospital Cerebral Palsy Spasticity Center, who has successfully done over 5000 SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) surgeries, gives Elijah a chance to walk. SDR will reduce spasticity, and Dr.Park is the world expert and most experienced neurosurgeon performing this procedure.

 

We visited Dr. Park on May 9th, 2022, and he said that if we work with Elijah over the next two years and he learns to stand and practice walking as much as he can, there is a high chance for him to walk with a walker.

 

Right now, we are focused on training to standing. Dr. Park believes there is significant hope that SDR surgery will help Elijah start walking. The surgery cost is $35,000, and our family doesn’t have that amount of money to cover this surgery. We pray that other people will help us raise funds for Elijah’s surgery.
